Throughout my years in college I began nannying professionally for a young family with three children (they were two, four, and six when I started). For two years in college I also worked as a teacher’s aide at the university’s child development center (working with children ages 18 months - five years old). Having these jobs in conjunction with taking psychology courses at my college gave me first hand experience as to how crucial healthy caregiving is for children and their mental and emotional development. My degree in psychology has introduced me to ideas that have taught me to be a better caregiver in ways that nannying and being a teacher’s aide alone wouldn’t have taught me, and it is an experience that I often reflect on in being the best caregiver that I can be. When my time at college came to an end, I accepted a position as Read more a full time nanny for a family with three children (ages four, nine, and ten when started). This was a position where the children were doing an online schooling program, and in addition to this I was the sole person responsible for scheduling and getting the children to/from playdates, sports practices, and any doctor or dental appointments. I gained experience traveling with the family and also live-in experience during the summer months when we lived at their lakehouse. Overall, my past nanny experience makes me feel competent in taking on busy households and “wearing multiple hats” and I believe that I could be an asset to any family looking for an organized, caring, and trustworthy nanny.
