• My nanny career began at home, helping with the day-to-day care of my youngest sister (who has special needs) and babysitting all my siblings when our parents went out. As I got older and my service expanded to include neighbors and family friends, I discovered that I share a natural affinity with children of all ages and abilities. After seeing “The Sound Of Music” for the first time, my calling was clear: I wanted to be Fräulein Maria when I grew up! • I attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University on a full academic scholarship, where I earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy. I also studied languages - French, German, Spanish, and Italian. • After graduation, I supplemented my musical income by working with children in a variety of roles - as a nanny, a preschool and elementary school teacher assistant, Read more a tutor, and a children’s librarian. I also volunteered as both an advocate for people with special needs and a mentor for gifted children. • In 2006, my twin passions of music and childcare/education dovetailed as I began a 14-year stint with Heartland Music Together, where I taught music classes for young children and their families. I’d already begun working toward a Master’s Degree in music therapy at the University of Louisville; my education continued at Heartland as I received intensive, ongoing instruction in early childhood education research and practices, and achieved Level I certification. I also trained in teaching classes specifically for infants and new parents, and developed a program that offered personalized musical birthday parties for children. • When Covid brought an end to most of my public endeavors, I decided to return to private practice, which is what brought me to Sittercity and now to you! I’m looking for a long-term childcare position with a family who will appreciate my gentle, soft-spoken manner and reciprocate my sincere commitment to earning their trust. In addition to being very experienced, I am patient, conscientious, creative, and dependable. Having no children of my own, my heart has a deep reservoir of love to share. I will support your parenting by nurturing your child(ren) with quality care and imaginative play, incorporating age-appropriate books, crafts, games, movement, and, of course, music :-) • NOTE: I am fully vaccinated and boosted, and willing to wear a mask.
