Hi, my name is Melissa! I enjoy nurturing, encouraging, and playing with children at their place of development; watching them as they grow and mature through their various stages of development is fascinating. It is a particular interest of mine to find what passions your child has and to capitalize on that in order to pique their curiosity, grow their sense of self and enhance their confidence and joy for life and learning. I am a hands-on, interactive person, preferring real-life exprience such as playing at the park, reading and primarily playing without a screen. I also enjoy communicating with parents and learning about the unique characteristics of each child. I like to integrate the parent's desires, as well, so it is a positive relationship for all. I started babysitting my brother when I was 10 years old and from there many doors opened for childcare in my youth. In Read more college, children were always on my radar, be it educationally or professionally. After college I taught Preschoolers for the summer at a conference center. After my first child was born I enrolled in a Co-operative Preschool where I earned 38 hours in Early Childhood Education. Both of my children struggled with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. I took several professional education classes to learn how to teach my daughter how to read and write. I have learned a great deal from this life experience. In the past 8 years, I have had the pleasure of caring for children ages 6 months to 7 years old. One of which I have cared for going on 7 years this year! I also drove two teens from school to their various destinations safely for 18 months. I have been working at a preschool part time. I am certified by the Red Cross in CPR/ First Aid from infant to adult, including AED. I am also STAR certiified.. I have recieved compliments from many parents as to how I work well with their children and how their children feel comfortable and cared for when I am with them.
