I have loved children my whole life. The oldest of 4 siblings, I was helping at home from a very young age. As a teenager I lifeguarded and babysat to save money, and then in college began teaching child swim lessons. I maintained that job through all of school, and eventually came back full-time after school Aquatic Program Manager and Director of the preschool and youth program with the swimming school company I still currently work for. I have current lifeguard, CPR & First Aid certifications. Throughout my time with them, I took classes on child development and developed their curriculum and training manuals. I have taken classes with Simplicity Parenting in Bellevue and workshops with Nurturing Pathways in Seattle that have educated me on child development, psychology and parenting/education techniques. While I have always loved aquatics and working with children (hence why I returned to this as a full-time Read more career,) my education was in the sciences. I studied at the University of Washington and worked as a student intern in Sport Medicine with UW Athletics for two years, as well as worked as a rehabilitation exercise specialist at a physical therapy clinic for another two years. I have extensive experience with injury treatment and prevention, and a thorough understanding of the human body and its development from infancy through adulthood. Aside from my education, I am fluent in Spanish, my first language, and English, and have basic knowledge of Italian from my time studying abroad. I recently became a mom for the first time, and having a 13-month old baby girl has shifted my priorities. I am interested in working with kids in a different capacity, mostly having more time with her and still be able to share my care and knowledge with other kiddos and families. My ideal situation is being able to bring her along to any babysitting and care-taker jobs.
