Childhood education has been my passion since I was 7 years old. I was inspired by a teacher to start down the path of becoming a teacher and have continued my journey since then. When I started college I went for a Music Education Degree as I wanted to teach elementary music. With the declining interest in funding and availability of music teaching jobs I turned my journey to Early Childhood education. I enjoyed every minute of the classes I attended and the internships I progressed through, ending my journey with a B.S. In Early Childhood Education and a minor in music. My career started at HeadStart near the Navajo reservation serving low income and homeless families in need of not only a teacher but someone who could help them. I stayed with HeadStart for almost 5 years before moving back home to Texas. I have been back in Texas Read more for a little over two years now and have been working at a private preschool. Though as the days go on, more and more children are added to my class and working over state ratio requirements has put me in an uncomfortable spot. The safety of the children in my care is the upmost important thing and all precautions must be met. I have always been a lead teacher, most of my classroom experience I have been alone without an assistant, so I am able to multitask very well. I would love to work with the entirely of a child's development from the social-emotional understanding, cognitive development and academic achievement. I believe all parts of child development are important for the well being of the whole child. I'm not a TV person, so I have very little experience with screentime outside of using videos to reference animals, places, or other elements not easily learned for a child without seeing them in action. I look forward to speaking with you!
