Meet Makaila

Hello! My name is Makaila Vang, I am a senior at UNCC majoring in computer science and I will be graduating this semester! I love going outside, sports, reading, and being around people. I have two younger sisters (18 and 15 years old) that I love with all my heart and soul. In high school, when I was able to drive, I would wake them up in the morning, get them ready for school, get them breakfast, and take them to school. After school I would pick them up and head straight to volleyball practice. We did this every day until I graduated. I also worked very closely with my youngest sister as her math tutor throughout middle school. Especially during the pandemic when she struggled with online school. The last two summers I have worked as a volleyball camp instructor. I have been the lead counselor for two summers Read more now. Camps were Monday-Thursday from 9am to 4pm and I had 2-3 other coaches that I managed. The camp usually consisted of about 20-30 kids, and I was in charge of making sure everything ran smoothly and dealing with any small injuries (like band-aid and ice worthy injuries) and any issues between two kids. I have also worked with a program called little spikers which is an hour-long session with 3–8-year-old children. Also, pets are definitely not an issue! I have dog sat for a friend once before, for about a week. I do love pets. My family had a dog that passed a few years ago, and we currently have two cats. I am just looking for something to do before I move to Raleigh in the fall. I am still a volleyball coach and plan to work 2 weeks of summer camp. Thus, I have some things planned for the summer that may interfere with babysitting; however, I know all the dates I will be busy and can let you know way ahead of time.
