Hello there! My name is Autumn, I am 21 years old and a college student. I first started working with kids at the age of 12 in my church and fell in love with interacting with the little ones and getting to know all their different personalities. I worked as a teaching assistant full-time in a daycare for 2 1/2 years. The groups I worked with were infants and toddlers. I would change their diapers, feed them every two/3 hours a day or whatever schedule mom and dad had them on. My highlight of the day was story time and arts and crafts, which is a way kids can be expressive and responsive but be calm and relaxed and productive as well. Music was a remedy in my classroom when the kids would be kind of cranky - music would soothe them but also entertain and brighten their day. My Read more co-workers called me the baby whisperer or momma bear. I would always be holding a baby/toddler, wrapping them in my arms, hugging them, kissing them or just embracing them and all my co-workers would say "stop spoiling them Autumn" but, I couldn't help it! :) I believe, it's important to connect with children and never to underestimate their ability to learn but to build up their self-esteem and to pour out love and care and protect them wholeheartedly.
