I have extensive experience working with children. I offer a boutique-style nanny service and child enrichment services.

Professional/Educational experience:

-Bachelors Degree in Education

-Masters Degree in speech-language pathology

-In-home mental health therapy and parent coaching with children and families

-Foster parent for 5+ years

-Work in early childhood as a birth to 3 therapist, preschool teacher, daycare teacher, and nanny for nearly 20 years

-Dual certified birth and postpartum doula

In my over 20 years of experience working with and parenting tiny humans, many of my methods and theories have developed through plain trial and error. Children have taught me so much more than I could ever teach them.

Here are some of the things that have come to be important aspects of my childcare philosophy:

-Following many Montessori and Waldorf inspired concepts

-Providing some adult-lead activities, in segments

-Providing access to developmentally appropriate materials, toys, social and sensory experiences and activities

-Allowing for natural learning opportunities to unfold throughout our day in the forms of sensory play, social interactions, cooking, exploration, art, etc.

– Experiencing daily outdoor time so long as weather allows-it typically does

-Reading and exploring books, books, and more BOOKS! I absolutely adore reading and deeply appreciate the myriad developmental growth opportunities it allows for.

-Nurturing open-ended play opportunities

-Acknowledging that I am here to guide and bear witness to the natural curiosity and sense of adventure that is innate in children

-Planning activities that are scaffolded to meet the precise needs of multiple children as needed

-I do create “lesson plans” as requested but find that we often deviate and chase other ideas.

I pride myself on building trusting, lasting relationships with the parents I work with.

I have been thoroughly background checked in various positions, but I always encourage families to run their own checks for additional piece of mind.
