While reading about child development, I encountered the quote “Experience creates hooks in the mind for knowledge to hang on.” As I begin working towards a career in early childhood education, that has proven true not only for the kids I work with, but also for myself.

My ongoing attempts to establish those metaphorical “hooks” have involved several volunteer jobs. Most notably, I’ve helped out at Loving Space kindergarten, Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, and the Baby ‘N Me classes at BTC.

I’ve always loved books, and I’m a decent voice actor when reading aloud. I do a pretty awesome dramatic reading of ‘Click-Clack-Moo.’

I have a car, but I also have a Radwagon Ebike that can comfortably carry one adult or two kids as passengers. I prefer the bike most of the time, but I have the car if I need it.

I have some experience working with children with special needs, in addition to my own experience growing up with my learning disabilities.

I usually use they/them pronouns, but if someone is trying their best, I don’t mind being called something else.
