i am interested in your part-time nanny job. I am a senior at university of san francisco, graduating this summer in psychology, and I am moving back to my hometown of santa barbara in august. I have taken childhood development classes, abnormal psychology, and have had extensive classes on interpersonal relations and communication skills. next year I plan to go to graduate school to become a clinical therapist.
i worked in an internship for six months with two autistic children and became certified in the son-rise program, which is a hands on positive communication program for children on the autistic spectrum. in these sessions with the children, I would have one-on-one interactions and play time. I now am in a part-time paid position with another child who is on the autism spectrum and am using the same techniques and program. I also am furthering my experience with children by interning at the holy name preschool in the sunset district. as an intern, I supervise the children’s playtime, help the teachers educate the children, and play with the children. currently, I am a nanny for a four year old in san francisco. I pick her up from camp and spend evenings with her. this includes taking her to her to ballet, making food, playing, and having a great time!
my experience with challenging children has allowed me to learn the value of calmness, being creative in coming up with activities that interest the children, and keeping activities light and fun so that the child looks forward to my visits. while working with these children I have also had to communicate thoroughly and clearly with their parents regarding the child’s specific needs. these experiences have made me uniquely qualified to work with young children with or without special needs.
