Hello!
i am a 22 year old part-time occasional child care provider. I currently work at the children’s courtyard m-f during the day. I am available on the weekends and after 7pm during the week. I have my own transportation.

my philosophy is education through literature, play, visual and auditory stimulation, as well as hands-on activities.

i offer overnight care, meal and/or snack preparation, transportation, arts and crafts, music and dance, and free play opportunities. I am more than comfortable caring for children 5 months and older. I am also experienced in large group care.

i am certified in cpr and first aid. I have been trained in child harm prevention such as shaken baby syndrome and sids. I am bilingual in english and spanish. I also know basic signs for asl.

i will be graduating from the university of texas at austin with my b.a. in psychology (emphasis in child development) and minor in education this august of 2013. I have taken several courses related to child development and education including:
introduction to child development,
child language,
play in early childhood education,
infant development,
individual learning skills,
behavioral neuroscience,
and health psychology

my child care bio:
between the years of 2006 to 2008, I babysat for multiple families in and around my neighborhood. interaction with the children varied from family to family and included meal time, help with homework, cleaning, and planning/executing activities for them. the children I babysat ranged from 4 to 8 years old.

in the summers of 2006 and 2007, I volunteered at a summer program where I assisted church personnel in creating and facilitating activities for children including dance and performance, recreational sports, and arts and crafts. children who attended the program ranged from 5 to 14 years old.

between 2007 and 2008, I was a teacher’s assistant and tutor for a first grade classroom. in the summer of 2008, I volunteered at a parks and recreation summer program where I assisted camp counselors in organizing and fulfilling tasks and activities for the children. the children I worked with ranged from 6 years old to about 15 years old.

during the years of 2010 and 2011, I co-organized a literacy program for a local elementary school in which we promoted bilingual education and the importance of higher education. the children I interacted with ranged from 8 to 10 years old.

in summer and fall of 2012, I volunteered in a research lab focused on the imagination and cognition of children. I worked with children from the ages of 4 to 12 years.
i currently work at the children’s courtyard where I engage with children from 5 months to 11 years old.
