Hi there, my name is joanne.
i moved back to piermont from nyc 9 years ago. while in nyc, I was a substitute teacher for pre-school at riverside church weekday school and taught an after school art class.
i grew up in harrington park, nj. children have always been in my life whether through teaching, playing or babysitting. I’m comfortable with all ages, having been a sitter from the age of 12 years old. my first child care job in piermont was as a nanny for a 2 month old baby boy on a daily basis. I later worked with a family in palisades for several years. I drove their little girl to jcc for her violin lessons, cooked for them, designed birthday card invitations for the children’s parties, and built model planes and legos with her brother until I moved to nyc for my makeup career.
having returned to piermont, I freelance in art, foster/pet sit dogs, and love to care for children.
as a children’s teacher i’ve been around many different personalities, being the individuals they are. I am playful, can hold my own playing tag, football, hopscotch or exploring a playground, hiking, dancing, cycling, and swimming. I keep children occupied through drawing, board games, shrinky dinks, baking clay, making cookies, getting homework done, building legos – activities depending on age and whether they are boys or girls or both.
I’m college educated, don’t smoke, love to read, was a professional ballerina, exhibited my art work at galleries, have a clean driver’s license and references, I’m punctual, volunteer with three different associations, and am very conscientious and empathetic.
