Hi!
my name is maria isabella (izzy) arias and I’m a 19-year-old sophomore at the university of hawaii at manoa. im studying business and hope to become an attorney in the future. I was born and raised on the island in hawaii kai and attended mid-pacific institute for my middle and high school careers.

since I was 12 years old, I have dedicated each summer to volunteer at aina haina recreation park to watch kids, ages 4 to 12, for a summer fun program. every monday through friday, the staff and i, would set up arts and crafts, dance sessions, and a number of fun activities for the kids from 8 am to 3 pm.

i also have a younger autistic sister who I have cared for, since she was born. even though I am young, people would describe me as very responsible and trustworthy, yet because I am so young, I feel that I can relate to children and I understand their needs. I feel that kids like me right off the bat because I am so friendly, open, and upbeat, yet I believe that I am firm. kids trust me, and they also respect me. I think that I give a sense of authority, without being being too much of an adult, and the kids love that!
