Hello! I'm Evelyn, a 30yo independent inner-NE nanny with 12+ years of childcare experience with babes, toddlers, and youth -ages 5mo to 18 yrs. ARE WE A MATCH? I'm looking for a family or two for 24-32+ hours/week. I'm available starting in June for a summer or a 12 to 18-month commitment. ABOUT ME: I'm an optimist, light-hearted, and kind person. I value integrity and mindfulness and bring these elements into my time with the children (and adults!) I work with. I foster honest, curious conversation, and value expressing gratitude and kindness as a way of being. So far, I think this has had a meaningful impact with several of the children I've worked with. My childcare strengths are teaching self-care routines, meal prep basics, and other life skills. I can assist with sleep + potty training and routine-setting. I am also very good at engaging with children both verbally Read more and non-verbally. I find young children become more verbally expressive from our time together. I use song, repetition, praise, and clear enunciation. When working with children, I love exploring the city with them and using the external world as our classroom. I encourage my young friends to explore the breadth and beauty of civic life (libraries, parks, transportation, classes, volunteering, etc.). Given my love of cities and community building, I am passionate about helping children and young people better understand and ultimately, celebrate, the diversity and complexity of their surrounding environment. I'm also a fluent Spanish and Portuguese-speaker if languages are of interest. CHILDCARE: 2017-Present: Portland: Established relationships w/ 7+ families in N and NE Portland caring for their kids ranging from 5mo to 7 yrs 2013-2015: LA: Regular sitter for 5mo, Julian 2010: NYC: Writing, English and Spanish Language Tutor and Student Mentor, Harlem Children's Zone. Ages 11-17 2006-2011: NYC: Nanny through Barnard College's Babysitting Agency. 5yrs with one family caring for their son and daughter from the age of 5 months. PROFESSIONAL: I'm currently enrolled in a part-time MBA program and consult 1-2 days a week. I have Masters and Bachelors degrees in City Planning and Architecture.
