I have recently retired from public school special education and am looking for a part-time position. I am a fortunate in that I have to pursued my passion for 34 years. This has encompassed experience across multiple programs including Learning Disabilities, Mild to Severe Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Emotional Impairments. Along the way I have also been a tireless advocator for students, developed and written programs, assisted and inspired other teachers, supervised many para-professionals, chaired Individualized Education Program meetings, facilitated implementation of local, state and federal law and generally have had a wonderful, delightful and challenging career. I have a Michigan and Florida Exceptional Student Certificate. I began my career developing the first ASD inclusion program in Washington State. From there I have headed multiple Resource/Consulting programs serving Learning Disabilities, Emotion Impaired, ASD, Moderate and Severely Impaired individuals in both Washington state and Michigan. In 1986 I moved to Read more Neu Brucke, Germany to teach General Education in the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) for 2.5 years. This experience gave me understanding of the general education teachers’ difficult job in motivating and differentiating instruction for a multitude of students! Recently I have had experience working in middle school resource rooms, grades 6 – 8 English/Language Arts, developing a Transition Program for high school students and transferring these skill to a high school alternative education program. I also was an Adjunct Professor with the Lansing Community College Center for Transitional Learning. I am very adaptable, empathetic, creative and passionate about the individuals I work for and with. I bring a sense of love, humor and wonderment to every endeavor I pursue. I am interested in preferably part-time employment or contract employment but would certainly consider full-time employment. I have high hopes that I will be perfect for any openings you may have.
