Hi! My name is Alex and I am a graduate student at Boston College in the School of Social Work. I have a concentration in children, youth and families and have spent the year interning at Children's Services of Roxbury, providing in-home therapy to youth ages 4-18. In addition, I have been babysitting for a wonderful family in the South End (2 girls, ages 2 & 4) a few nights a week and most Saturdays since October 2018. I have always had a passion for working with youth and their families, and have been caring for children in a variety of settings since I was 15, I'm 24 now! I As an undergraduate at The University of Connecticut I majored in Human Development and Family Studies and graduated in May 2017. During summer 2016 I worked as a residential counselor at the summer program for Wediko Children's Services. It was Read more an 8 week therapeutic summer camp and I worked with girls ages 15-19. It was such an awesome experience. My final semester at UConn I was a full time nanny Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for a 6 month old girl from 7:30am- 5pm. I stayed with this family for about 7 months and loved every minute. I watched their daughter take her first steps and begin to "speak" more and more. The family and I became extremely close during this time and we still are in contact to this day! During the 2017-2018 school year I served as an Americorps member with an education nonprofit called City Year. I taught math and social emotional learning in two fourth grade classrooms in Washington D.C. and I loved it! When the school year ended I was a nanny for a 7 year old girl Monday-Friday 8-6pm during the summer. I took her to the pool, the zoo, many museums, and the library every morning to complete her Kumon math and reading lessons.
