Hey everyone, I am a San Francisco native who recently moved to Oakland with my partner. Aside from being a caregiver, I am a part-time graphic illustrator working on a concept for a children's book. I am sure it will be a joyful endeavor for me as is child-rearing. I come from a culturally diverse family where my parents helped foster strong environmental and humanitarian beliefs. I found my calling in the caregiving industry after attending the Art Institute and finding a wonderful multilingual/multicultural family in San Francisco to work for. They really set the standard for me as far as continuing my career in the field and in turn helped me to become a more patient, compassionate, and respectful individual towards children. I spent 4 years in elderly hospice care caring for my father who was a struggling cancer patient. I knew then that I wanted to help people Read more and live life as a giver. I was able to quit my previous career in marketing and work with children with special needs and helping tutor children in advance placement schools with math, English, art, and science. I am somewhat familiar with the Montessori and Waldorf methods of teaching. I can work with most parenting styles as long as there remains an open dialogue about expectations or boundaries. As an illustrator, I take joy in watching children learn through visual communication. I am enlivened by their curiosity and I encourage the practice of creative recreation. I like to be less invasive with strict rules and let the children feel what they are feeling without diminishing the gravity of their emotions. I respect all forms of parenting, as they are often unique and varied per family. I am hopeful that all prospective families have a disciplinary plan of action and a semblance of a routine for preparing for a new caregiver transition. It is an integral part of the job to make the children feel most comfortable and more importantly, safe when parents are away. I understand that sometimes it is almost impossible to prevent a ‘meltdown’. It takes time to delve into a new family situation so I am open to doing one week trial runs with each family to assess their needs. I would love to continue the discussion in person when it is convenient to meet everyone. I encourage you to reach out to my references (they are really wonderful families that I love and respect). If you took the time to check out my sitter profile, thank you! I greatly appreciate your time.
