I have 2 years experience working as a live in nanny. Throughout 2010-2011, I worked for a family with 2 children ages 10 and 5. The oldest on the Autism Spectrum. I had first hand experience throughout his ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy 15/hrs a week. I was also involved in floor time therapy 5/hrs a with therapies. Parents preferred blending therapies rather than choosing one route. I was able to learn both approaches. I was also hired at a camp in Ely, Minnesota. It is a children's summer camp for children with all kinds of learning disabilities. I worked as a counselor and kitchen staff. It was great experience working with all sorts of children and there amazing capabilities. I was certified CPR and first aid in 2010. I can recertify if need be. I also was on swim team and know how to swim very well. Since 2011 I currently nanny a family with 3 children. Ages 6, 6 and 4. I am dyslexic myself and have learning disabilities myself. It was difficult throughout my education but with the right encouragement and support I have learned how to manage and succeed. This is what has helped me to choose this specialty.
