In 2015 when my great grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, I took on the roll of being one of her primary care takers for the last year of her life. This would be the beginning of my caregiving journey. During that time, I was also privately hired to perform various tasks for an elderly woman who I cared for up until her passing. I worked for her for 3 years, taking her to and from doctors appointments, completing house chores, and grocery shopping. Following the death of my grandmother, while still doing private care, I was employed in dining services for a local nursing home for a year. I then took a 3 year break from the elderly & worked in a day program for adults with special needs. 2 years ago I returned to working with the elderly, where I've since been doing private duty until recently, when my little lady made her transition to the after life.
