Empathy, understanding, and authenticity are essential when working with older adults, especially those with dementia. Their emotional intelligence increases as their condition progresses. It is crucial to focus on an individuals strengths. Being present and meeting them where they are at in that given moment helps set them up for success. My experience working with older adults involves developing and leading an early stage dementia program. In this position, I have built connections through conversation, music, movement, and compassion. I have two years experience working in a group setting and individually. I can provide engagement that is therapeutic and enriching for your loved one. If you are looking for someone to provide companionship, transportation, or light errands, I am ready to help! My mission is to connect with each individual I meet, and remind them of their purpose and value they have to the world around them.
