My experience working with seniors is from both, professional as well as a personal experience. My professional experience came with volunteering in nursing homes. It would allow me to have one on one and hands-on experience with different seniors who were either in the assistant living program or stayed within the facility due to medical conditions that prevented them from living on their own. This allowed for me to gain further experience in record keeping, dispersing medication, and assisting the seniors in their daily routines. My personal experience came from working with my grandmother who was 75 years old at the time and had been diagnosed with degenerative Alzheimer's disease. Once diagnosed, I became my grandmothers full-time caregiver. I equipped her home to prevent her from wandering outside unaccompanied, maintained and distributed her medications, maintained her hygiene, helped assist in daily activities in, and outside the home.
