I'm an energetic, non-smoking, 5'10", 175 lb retired at-home Dad of two for the last 23 years. I've cared for family members intermittently since I was 19 (including 7 years with my Mother and Mother-in-law in my home). These family members dealt with Alzheimer's, cancer, dementia, depression, diabetes, pulmonary disease, stroke and suicide. For the last 5 years, I've provided care for 3 Connecticut gentleman elders as well as live-in care, as needed. I provide companionship, travel to/from appointments, day trips and cooked meals. I'm a former medical office manager, familiar with medications, med logs and daily milieu notes for continuity of care with visiting doctors, nurses, social workers, etc. I assist with grooming, dressing, bathing, using the facilities, meal prep, feeding, laundry and cleaning the environment. My Red Cross certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED is valid through 11/2023.

We met Rob through care.com in June of 2021. While my 93-year-old father was still relatively independent at home, we (his family) wanted to reduce his exposure to the public during the pandemic. We began doing his grocery shopping, errands, etc. as well as take him to doctor apts. When we hired Rob we were simply looking for help with those time-consuming tasks. What we gained was so much more. Rob's longtime experience caring for others proved extremely helpful when my father did have medical issues, especially male-related symptoms/concerns which my father was more comfortable discussing with Rob. Most surprising for us is that my father, a self-described "happy loner" & an opinionated man who could be difficult to get to know, came to really enjoy engaging Rob in conversations on a wide range of topics during their time together. That's a credit to Rob's openness & curiosity. We consider him not just a caregiver or companion, but a family friend as well. Happy to recommend Rob.
