About Merrie

For over 40 years, I have appreciated wisdom born of experience that exudes from our elders. Caring for seniors has been my vocation and my avocation from youth. In my early 20's I was asked to care for seniors who were family friends. For my career, I was a Home Economics teacher (now Consumer and Family Sciences). During that time, I cared for family members and older family friends. Since early retirement, I have cared for unique individuals in a variety of environments. One woman was experiencing early stages of Alzheimer's Disease. We traveled on a cruise ship for several weeks at a time. One gentleman, left the priesthood to marry and raise a family. I cared for him on his family's farm. Most recently, I assisted an 88-year-old woman transition from her family home to an apartment. I feel honored to be present with those who carry history and unique perspectives. The essence of Home travels with me pouring love, acceptance and appreciation over those who enter my life.
