Aloha, I am 58 years old. I recently retired from my job as a zookeeper. I am receiving a pension and have full medical insurance through my retirement plan. I have spent my entire working career caring for animals and have a degree in animal husbandry. I would like to try something new. In 2015 I took an entire year off from work to care for my 84 years old mother who had dementia, confined to a wheel chair and was on dialysis three times a week. I really enjoyed taking care of my mother and I was good at it. I was her sole caretaker, 24/7. Similar to taking care of animals, I had to anticipate the needs of my mother, and mostly be responsible for her care. I over saw everything from giving her medication, taking her to doctor appointments, cooking for her, doing craft projects and mostly just being there for her. Her dementia caused her to be occasionally frighten and so just being there to help calm her down was rewarding for me
