For starters, you'll never find a more loving, patient, skilled companion thank Kim. We truly believe was an angel sent from heaven when she came into our lives to be a companion for our mom. We moved to Ohio approx. 2 years ago. My mother is about a stage 7 on a scale of 10 in her Alzheimer's journey. My mom has severe sun-downing and wanders. We found Kim at just the right time. Kim and my mom fell in-love from the word "hello". Kim took my mom on a field trip every day, always packed mom's favorite snacks, sang along to the beach boys in the car and every day was a gift. What did Kim do for my mom? Everything, and I mean everything! Kim started off by color coordinating my mom's closet, managed mom's toiletries, bathing, grooming, ensured she always had her nails done and red lipstick on!!! Kim managed doctor appointments, medications and just about anything that mom needed. Nothing was too much for Kim. These two were bonded at the hip. On Kim's off hours, she baked for the other residences at the facility and even packed treats for their pets. Kim is one of a kind! Kim was so focused on my mom ~ she sensed when my mom was about to sun-down and would immediately go into distracting mode by taking her on a walk or for a drive. You could say mom had Kim wrapped around her finger! I never questioned one thing, ever, in the time Kim spent with my mom. Kim taught me to be a better daughter, a better listener and taught me to have more patience. For the rest of my life I will forever be indebted for the blessing she has been to my mom and for the peace she bestowed onto my family. I can never repay Kim for what she has done for my family. I know my father looks down every day from heaven with peace and joy to see his bridge looked after with so much love and kindness. There was always one aspect of my mother's ALZ that I knew I could not control, and that is my mom wanders. Up until the past month we had it under control, but then my mom began to wander in the middle of the night which forced us to move my mom to a locked facility. Separating these two was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I know my mom will miss her best friend and companion, and although their friendship can continue, the daily field trips, the hand holding, the love showered on my mom daily by Kim will be missed. The thought of this change in my mom's life is almost too much for me to bear, but my number one priority is of course my mom's safety. The facility my mom has gone to has even asked if Kim would be interested in employment, but Kim feels it would be too difficult for my mom to see her there in a different capacity, what if she wanted to leave and go fishing? You see, Kim has never said no to my mom and has no plans to start now. Sorry for this long letter but I simply knew no other way to describe this truly special person. I'm open to talk with anyone who is seeking to find what I have found in Kim. You will NEVER find someone better, more loving or compassionate for your loved one.
