About Haley

When both of my parents died, I lived with my grandmother for some time during high school. I thought being a teenager and living with your grandmother would be absolute hell-- but in no time she became my best friend. Today my grandmother is 91, and there isn't a day that goes by that I haven't called her. She lives in an assisted living facility with all of my other "grandmas," as I affectionately call them. I spend much time at the facility and I honestly find that I enjoy the company of the elderly more than that of people my own age. My grandmother has macular degeneration and is rapidly losing her eyesight. Taking care of her includes being her "watch dog," reading the menu to her when we go out to eat, and helping her in and out of the bathroom. I am patient, responsible, and have my own transportation too!
