“Hola” did a tremendous job caring for my father. He struggled for 10+ years with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. He was in care homes for many years, but during Covid, we built an extension to our home, where he stayed for 2 and a 1/2 years with caregivers 24-hours a day. Hola cared for him 50-60+ hours a week during this period, and also introduced us to a number of friends and sister-in-laws who helped fill the shifts. In the end, Hola and 2 others filled all the shifts, and covered for each other, requiring very little of my time, besides buying food and supplies, and of course our nightly dinners with my dad. I can’t tell you how much easier this coverage made my life after having lived through care agencies who would cancel 12-hour shifts at the last minute with no replacement. Hola has a very kind demeanor, and excellent education and training. She cared for my father’s physical needs, while keeping him entertained. I depended on Hola to help bring my father to doctor appointments, haircuts and dinners, as she was one of only a few caregivers that I could trust to get him safely in the car. In other instances I would have to use transports. Hola and her sister-in-laws were like a part of our extended family. They played with my young daughter and dog while I would prepare dinner, and made the whole experience much more fun for everyone, including my dad. I also counted on Hola to keep everything going when we left on vacation, even when we had to extend one stay to a month as we could not fly since we had contracted Covid while away. Hola also took over distributing my dad’s medications into the daily containers, again freeing some of my time. In the end, when my father came home from the hospital for a week on hospice, Hola and one sister-in-law stayed with my father continuously making sure he would never be alone in his room. If you are looking for part-time care, or a whole team, I would definitely recommend Hola. She will make your life a lot easier, and give you peace of mind.
