My experience with this caregiver highly concerning. I am reporting OBJECTIVE FACT which after addressing with Ula, she acknowledged as true and promptly resigned mid-care commitment, leaving me with nobody (after accepting payment for first job left incomplete). This is in writing and can be offered as evidence. - Ula contacted me in response to my ad for "adult babysitting" following oral surgery. NO MEDICAL EXPERTISE required, basic food prep, daily life activities, shuttle to doc, as i will be unable to attend to this in pain. If you're on this platform, you should be qualified, as true basics only. - After hours on the phone i was confident in Ula's perceived initiative and reliability. I hired her and requested she take me to / from oral surgeon yesterday for final pre-op appointment. - Ula arrived on time, without a mask! I didn't think much of it until i got one for myself and she asked for one. This is a Care.com caregiver, i have autoimmune. This is unsafe. Was focused on surgeon appt, got her a mask. - i offered her iced tea, lemonade, water, la croix. She wanted caffeine so i said "iced tea, then?" She asked for coffee. My machine stored i had to take it out, get coffee, brew, and CLEAN UP the mug she didn't drink and machine left behind. - I made eggs for myself as she told me how much time i had until we had to leave. (Came home to that dirty pan too). - Ula was informed she'd be invited in to speak to docs regarding post surgical care / med schedule. This did not happen as I was late to appt and doc said would emailed. BUT, Ula left to enjoy downtime 2 hours with one request, complete IHSS LA County form which she agreed to. She DID/COULD NOT as she had NO PEN. (Not did she have the initiative to find one, in 2 hours.) - I left medical facility with HUGE BAG medicine and medical supplies and told Ula about bag and contents. - She dropped me home as it approached rush hour on Friday. I am in a very weakened physical state, but could manage my service dog on a leash, her STROLLER, my heavy purse and heavy cooler bag. In retrospect, assistance to my unit would have been helpful but given rush hour i wanted to see her on her way too. - I paid her via payment app per her request. - in the rush and overwhelm of drop off, i forgot the huge bag of meds. I contacted Ula who confirmed she had them in her car. - MY ONLY ASK WAS TO TAKE AS MUCH OFF MY PLATE AS POSSIBLE; this care.com provider took accountability for rushing due to rush hour - and that critical medical supplies / meds - mismanaged as a result. I was also made responsible for her mask, pens and coffee. WHAT WILL HAPPEN POST SURGERY WHEN I CANNOT ATTEND TO MY CAREGIVER'S NEEDS, never mind my own? - I did not fire / relieve Ula. I communicated concern and asked her to write up the services I can expect on day of surgery. She replied that i shouldn't have a caregiver I'm concerned about. While genuine, I am now without a caregiver at the last minute. - I replied and I ASKED HER TO TELL ME WHEN SHE CAN COMMIT TO DROPPING OFF THE BAG OF MEDS / MED SUPPLIES. SHE SAID SHE WAS 60 MILES AWAY WITH NO CAR. OK. SO WHEN, IS ALL. NO REPLY. THIS IS CONCERNING. HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN THERE. I just was asking as I need to buy replacements and didn't want to overspend. Unfortunately, i do not know if i can upload images here or I'd offer the text exchange. I do not know if i will get this bag back!!! I will now not be reimbursed for her service as I cannot ask a woman who disappeared to fill out a county timecard. I've lost the money paid her as well as hundreds in meds / med supplies. As I'm new to care.com i take ownership over not exploring pay through app options and any related protections. *** While pet care was never a requirement for the role, i did let her walk my dog to the car as we left, at one point dangling the leash in her pinky. That was the ONLY item among all concerns listed where i said "no, not okay," and knew from that point i would not be asking her to tend to my dog while healing. I'd hire a dog walker. Only i see she is listed under pet care on this app so I feel this relevant to the review. *** I'd just really like these medical supplies back and felt asking her to commit to a day/time to return fair. No reply. How very disappointing. Her profile indicates 7 years experience. While this may or may not be true, her references were not former recipients of care. She offered her current boss in an unrelated field, who i did not reach after several attempts yesterday and today, and a flexible schedule with open availability, 24/7. I think Ula is very sweet, talented, and can offer the world great things. I am unsure she belongs on care.com when such basics cannot be attended to and after a solution-focused communication, quit on her commitment.
