About Renee

Hello! My name is Renee, and I am currently an experienced FCPS Kindergarten teacher working in Alexandria. I am currently accepting tutoring sessions for Summer 2024. I am offering tutoring sessions for rising Kindergarteners in preparation for Kindergarten, as well as for Kindergarten and First Grade students who would benefit from the Orton Gillingham method. I have taught Kindergarten for 7 years and also have experience teaching first grade for 3 years. I cover subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. My passion is teaching and improving beginning reading and writing skills in Kindergarten and first grade. I am also trained in the Orton Gillingham (OG) multi-sensory methodology for primary grades. With this method, I focus on a combination of building phonological awareness skills, letters, sounds, word families, high-frequency words, decoding skills, encoding skills, writing, and comprehension to improve reading and writing skills.
