About Marissa

It was both a pleasure and an honor to work with Marissa M. this last school year. I am a longtime fourth grade teacher at River Grove School. In the last few years I have worked directly and indirectly with new teachers, both as teammates and as a mentor. It is without question Marissa is the most adequate first year teacher I have ever worked with. Marissa and I collaborated in academic planning, curriculum piloting, and also creating social emotional plans for struggling students. Marissa has a great understanding of "at risk" students and students with greater social emotional needs. She meets each child with or without disabilities as a person first. She understand no two children are alike and each child develops in their own way, with strengths and challenges. Marissa listens well to the children and and asks questions in order to understand the reasons behind implementing or making accommodations to make it an opportunity for learning.
