About Joy

Hello! My name is Joy. I'm 55 yrs old and a Mom of 4. I'm also a retired Social Worker LCSW. I specialized in Play Therapy, Attachment, and Family Therapy. I was a Mental Health Consultant for Head Start for 16+ years. I loved it! I've spent many years working with children, adolescents and families. Focusing on attachment theory with a trauma-informed, Strengths perspective. Working in homes & schools & childcare centers through Cumberland County, using CBT, group tx, Play therapy & Art therapy. I am a native of Maine AND long time Portland local. I raised 4 fantastic kids, ages 25, 23, 22 & 21. Yes, they were all under the age of 5 at the same time, and my boys are only a year apart. I love to play! I think most people who know me would agree that I am at my happiest with kids. I believe that parents are the EXPERTS on their kids.
