After local babysittting since I was 14, I worked as a daycare assistant, then nanny, working with children from 3 weeks to 3 years old. My responsibilities included: keeping infants on a regular sleep schedule, providing a sound and structured day for infants and toddlers, and increasing toddlers' cognitive functions through games. Such games developed memory, hand-eye coordination, motor skills, speech, and social skills. I also prepared and provided healthy lunches in a timely manner. I encouraged toddlers to eat by themselves to improve their motor skills and facilitate independence. These were not mundane tasks for me. The enjoyment of working with children is watching them grow as individuals. There is nothing that gives me more satisfaction and sense of purpose. Currently, I do not own my own car, and using public transportation never hindered me from reliably showing up.
