We had Chloe babysit our 5 kids while my husband was home as a trial. She was told she was there for all 5 kids, to see how she'd do with all of them, and he was just there because it was still a trial. When I returned home, she was doing crafts with some of the kids while the 3 & 5yr old were jumping on the couch in another room and were unsupervised (tile floors = unsafe situation). After she left I reviewed camera footage and noticed that while she was very engaged with our older kids (ages 7-9) and did great with them, she did not keep eyes on the 3 & 5 yr old at the same time, and was frequently not in the same room as them. She did not attempt to find an activity all kids could enjoy. 5 kids can be a lot, which is why we do a trial, and she was very positive with the ones she paid attention to. Because she did good with the older kids, we wanted to hire her again for just them and have someone else watch the younger 2. Unfortunately, Chloe did not respond to the background request and declined the second request which is concerning. Not agreeing to a background check is a red flag to us. I think Chloe would be a good babysitter for school age kids, no more than 2-3 at a time, once background checked.
