About Amanda

Since the age of approximately 13, I have been babysitting a wide range of children. For three years I helped care for two young boys, ages 4 and 6. During my first year of working for them, it was discovered that the 4-year-old had autism. His family willingly shared with me the full hospital report so that I could have a better understanding of his condition. For the three years I worked for this family I was able to see him grow and really notice a difference in his speech. In addition to working with the two boys, I begun working for an after-school enrichment program at the age of 16. I was employed by this school up and through part of college. In this role I worked with children ages 4-12, in groups of 10-15. The youngest infant I have cared for was2 -weeks old so I am more than comfortable with newborn babies. I have a large extended family who have allowed me to care for their infants while away.
