My name is Amanda McCormick and I am 32 years old. I was born and raised in Rhode Island, relocating to VA in 2018 with my fiance, Mike. I currently work as a Events & Marketing Director at a local country club. I’ve graduated from Johnson & Wales University (JWU) with an Associate’s Degree in Advertising Communications and Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, with a concentration in sports and event management. I took a few classes at the Community College of Rhode Island in Early Childhood Education. For a few years, I worked at the Pawtucket Family YMCA as a Camp Director for Dino-Mytes, a group of children ages 5-8 years old. As a Camp Director, I planned ten weeks of daily activities, crafts and field trips for my group. I was also responsible for dealing with the children’s behavior and any injuries that may have occurred. For nine years, I Read more was a nanny for the same family in Cranston, RI. I started as a full-time nanny for their 8 month old son and three year old daughter. Eventually this transitioned to mornings getting the kids ready for school and on the bus before heading into my office job. Throughout high school I did a lot of babysitting for family friends and neighbors. I became very close with their families and grew up alongside their children. I didn’t realize how much I appreciated spending time with these children until our lives went in different directions and I lost touch with them. Now when I see them, it’s wonderful to see the smile and excitement that shows on their face. I love the satisfaction that working with children brings. It’s a great feeling to know that I can make such an impact on a single person just by being with them and helping them with anything they need.

I highly recommend Amanda as a nanny or babysitter! If we didn't have a wonderful nanny already, I would hire her as my full-time nanny. Amanda first worked for us in November 2010 and December 2010 when my regular nanny was on vacation. My sons were 6 weeks, 16 months, 9 and 13 at the time. She jumped right into the swing of things and was excellent with each child, plus managed to balance their (often competing) needs with a smile on her face and lots of enthusiasm. We have hired her since then for days when I'm working, weekends during the day when we need an extra set of hands, and for date nights. She is completely trustworthy, hard-working, and really enjoys being with the kids. She is always on time - or early - and is focused on the kids (she never is distracted by her phone or anything else ) talking, singing or playing. She is a gem!
