About Lauren

I was a full time cottage parent for the last 2 years at a residential foster care group home providing trauma informed care for up to 9 youth at a time. I worked with a large range of children ages 0-18 with various backgrounds and needs, including two young children who were nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. I received a great deal of training in this role. American Red Cross certified in infant, child and adult first aid and CPR, child and adult AED, blood born pathogens (recert due June 2023) and babysitting and pet first aid (recert not required). Completed my bachelor's in psychology from WCU in 2020, which included courses on child and adolescent development and abnormal psychology. I began providing child care for several families and organizations in my community at the age of 12, and continued to offer traditional babysitting services (both paid and volunteer) until beginning a full time child care position in 2021. I completed foster licensing courses in March 2023.
